Dreamnight at Currumbin
For five years, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary has hosted Dreamnight – a VIP event for critically ill children and their families. The evening is filled with fairy lights, music, costume characters and laughter. Most importantly, guests get “up close and personal” encounters with unique Australian wildlife.
Dreamnight at the Zoo is an initiative which started in the Netherlands in 1996 when an animal keeper went to his director with an idea to host a night especially for children hospitalized in local children’s wards. The very first night was a huge success and soon zoos around Holland became involved. In 2002, the Dreamnight at the Zoo Foundation was born and very quickly Zoos, Aquaria and wildlife institutions throughout the world started hosting their own special Dreamnight events.
Dreamnight is an internationally recognised event, which sees over 90 zoos worldwide uniting for a special cause. Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary was the first Australian organisation to join the foundation. Each year, these Zoos open their gates to welcome chronically ill children and their families as special guests. Dreamnight provides a cost-free evening out in the zoo for children who do not often have opportunities to visit animals in a zoo or sanctuary. Each year we invite children and families from organisations such as The Tweed Hospital Oncology Unit, Montrose Access Gold Coast, Starlight Foundation, Paradise Kids, Childhood Cancer Support and more.
Over 100 Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary Staff and Volunteers will give up their time to do what they do best - to make all guests feel welcome and special.
This years Dreamnight date is yet to be finalised.
