Careers Day
This
exciting event, sponsored by the RSPCA Gold Coast and Hinterland
Branch, gives individuals and
school students an insight into working with animals. Experts will
outline the
opportunities, explain potential career paths, advise on subject choice
and
educational courses.
Currumbin Wildlife
Sanctuary staff and volunteers will be available to discuss a variety of
careers
in animal welfare. Individuals and students will have the opportunity to
enrol
in Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary courses, work experience and volunteer
programs.
There will also be workshops and lectures by experts from various
organisations
including Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, the RSPCA, Guide Dogs Queensland
and the Animal Welfare League.

Aussie Wildlife Course
The "Aussie Wildlife Course" is an introductory course developed to
train enthusiastic members of our community to provide emergency care
for sick, injured or orphaned native wildlife. It also provides an
opportunity for people interested in furthering their knowledge for
employment opportunities e.g. Vet nursing or employment in the Wildlife
Industry.
We now have Adult, Teen and Weekend Classes.

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is offering the community an Avian
Husbandry course for people 14 years and older. This course is
designed specifically for the bird enthusiast or zoo
professional that is serious about birds and wishes to
expand their knowledge in aviculture/avian husbandry,
rehabilitation and hand rearing.

Companion Parrot Workshops is designed to give practical tips to help
parrot owners enrich the lives of their feathered friends.
This
course is taught by Jim McKendry, leading parrot consultant and founder
of the Companion Parrot Support Network and initiatives at PBEC.

Currumbin
Wildlife Sanctuary is pleased to offer Introduction to Herpetology
Community Course to people 12 years and older*. This Community Course
is designed for those with a keen interest in seeking knowledge and
understanding of Reptile identification, legislation and relevant
government bodies, basic taxonomy, captive-husbandry needs and
maintenance, health, nutrition and reproduction of reptiles.
